Four preference pairs combine into 16 types, grouped into four families. Percentages are widely cited population estimates.
Analysts — intuitive and thinking
INTJ (The Architect, ~2%), INTP (The Thinker, ~3%), ENTJ (The Commander, ~2%), ENTP (The Debater, ~3%). Drawn to systems, logic and long-range strategy.
Diplomats — intuitive and feeling
INFJ (The Advocate, ~1%), INFP (The Mediator, ~4%), ENFJ (The Protagonist, ~2%), ENFP (The Campaigner, ~7%). Guided by values, meaning and people.
Sentinels — observant and judging
ISTJ (The Logistician, ~13%), ISFJ (The Defender, ~13%), ESTJ (The Executive, ~11%), ESFJ (The Consul, ~12%). Practical, dependable and structure-oriented.
Explorers — observant and prospecting
ISTP (The Virtuoso, ~5%), ISFP (The Adventurer, ~8%), ESTP (The Entrepreneur, ~4%), ESFP (The Entertainer, ~8%). Hands-on, adaptable and in the moment.

A caveat about rarity
These percentages come largely from North American samples and vary meaningfully between studies, so they are rough context rather than a precise global distribution. Rarity is also not a measure of value — no type is better than another.
